View on X ↗A year to the day since riots & pogrom in Ballymena; more destruction of public property; more boys sent door to door to menace families inside. How does violence solve the barbaric scenes of this morning? And the solutions, the proposals, from those who whipped it up then & now?
The violence in North Belfast was horrific, the video will create fear and shock. No good will come of sharing it or of turning on each other in this society, including for the clout of online voices who don’t know or care about us and who offer absolutely nothing for the future.
The images from Scarva are bleak and disturbing. Taunts at peaceful marchers, an MP surrounded by masked men in 2026. Weaponised slurry, for God’s sake. Political leaders who won’t condemn bullying and intimidation, wherever it comes from, won’t take society anywhere good.

From Holywood and on to Crossmaglen, another great @SDLPlive Town Hall, chaired by our dynamic local Councillor @peterbyrnejnr. Really enjoying hearing from people about how they are hearing politics, and their hopes for the future. Next stop Cushendall.
Last year I called for review & renewal of policing. I was attacked, with completed unfounded spin, by someone who now professes blindness to any sexism in the PSNI. Those of us who genuinely believe in & support PSNI must review with honesty & support real organisational change
