The ongoing suffering in #Gaza is beyond horrific. Babies being bombed or freezing to death; doctors being abducted and/or killed; precision drones targeting older people. There have been some welcome changes from the new Labour Government including the sanctioning of settlers, ending of some arms sales, and support for the ICC, ICJ & UNRWA. But more action is needed. There needs to consequences for Israel’s blatant ignoring of international law. At the same time, Hamas needs to release the hostages. I call for UK to support the ICJ's Advisory Opinion and to work with international allies to implement it.

Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse is an appalling crime. It is all of our responsibility to be vigilant, to report any concerns, to prevent these crimes from taking place and to ensure abusers are punished. I support a victim-led approach to tackling CSE. If they believe a further independent review in addition to that undertaken by Malcolm Newsam & Gary Ridgway between 2019 & 2022 is needed in Oldham, I will support them. The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse also reported in 2022, but the previous Government did not implement a single recommendation. I welcome commitments to implement recommendations from the new Government, these must happen urgently. It is vital that those who commit these appalling crimes face the full force of the law and that the institutional failures that led to the abuse taking place are addressed. The victims and survivors of this abuse have suffered enough. They deserve justice.

Today I asked the Secretary of State @DHSCgovuk about the new agreement with the private healthcare sector delivering care in surgical hubs. Specifically I asked what arrangements had been made if/when these patients need emergency care. #HealthforAll
