View on X ↗We are backing British tech and British talent so we can create the jobs and growth of the future. Our new £1.1bn AI Hardware Plan will invest in UK chip development, computing power and innovation.
Tech and AI can transform our economy, public services and lives. But that depends on trust - protecting children online and supporting people as jobs evolve. We are not powerless. We will act to build a future that works for all.
Using the power of tech and AI while keeping children safe online isn’t a trade-off — it’s one and the same. We can unlock the benefits for healthcare and public services, while making sure future generations grow up safe and supported.
Our £1.1 billion plan is backing the British firms developing the next generation of AI hardware. So we get more jobs, more growth, and more control over the technologies our future depends on. I'm backing Britain because I believe in Britain.
I'm determined to build a future where everyone, whatever their background, can fulfil their potential. I've tasked delivery partners with reaching 400,000 kids in the most disadvantaged schools in our TechFirst scheme. My speech today at the government's AI Adoption Summit ⬇️
We are determined to make sure everyone can have a stake in the future by providing the skills and opportunities to the people and places that need it most. My Mirror article with @patmcfaddenmp https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/ai-threat-jobs-neets-unemployment-37258787.amp
I'm determined to give young people the jobs and skills they need to thrive in an era of technological change, and am taking action now to create a future that truly works for all.
“We’ve got to make sure AI enhances work: that we help people through the jobs transition, and we’re not like the Tories, who just leave people to cope on their own.” https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/jun/05/labour-will-make-ai-work-for-workers-liz-kendall
Great to visit @LivUni with @MetroMayorSteve to see innovation in action – creating products that will make a difference to people’s lives across the country. We are devolving more funds to regional leaders so they can invest in more breakthroughs on their doorstep
It was great to visit Uni of Liverpool with @MetroMayorSteve to see how innovation is driving jobs and growth. Through the Local Innovation Partnership Fund we are empowering regional leaders, and ensuring the decisions which benefit local communities are made on their doorstep.
At the G7, I spoke with Canadian Minister @EvanLSolomon on the economic benefits of AI adoption, and the importance of trust to enable that adoption. It is crucial that we work with our international partners on vital issues such as AI and online safety.
Regional leaders understand the strengths of their communities best. That is why we’re giving them the power to back local businesses which will create high-quality jobs and drive innovation that improves lives.
When I say we will act, I mean it. This consultation matters - that’s why I want to hear from as many people as possible, before it ends today: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/growing-up-in-the-online-world-a-national-consultation
It was inspiring to listen to pupils, parents and staff at @HammersmithAcad. Their contributions will help guide our next steps on social media.
It's great to see so many sharing their views with us when it comes to social media and growing up in the online world. There's still time to have your say in our consultation.
We are rebuilding Britain for the modern age, creating jobs, businesses and opportunities across the country.
I really enjoyed visiting Hammersmith Academy yesterday and seeing first-hand how reducing screen time is helping pupils focus and learn. (And yes, I did put my phone in a pouch too)
Time is running out ⏰ You can help us shape real change – I want to hear from parents, families, children and young people. Have your say: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/growing-up-in-the-online-world-a-national-consultation
I am determined to go further to keep children safe online. It’s not a question of whether we act - we will.
It was a pleasure to join friends at @savechildrenuk to mark the scrapping of the two-child limit. Thanks to their campaigning we will transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of children. This is the difference a Labour government can make.
