View on X ↗Around 3,000 young people in Leyton & Wanstead are NEET and keen to work or train – but the system is failing them. 👇 Last week I met apprenticeship providers, education leaders and invited the Skills Minister to Whipps to push for real pathways into jobs for our young people.
Henry Nowak’s murder was a vile act, and all our thoughts should be with his family. Politicians need to respond by focusing on what happened and what needs to change. Instead, we’ve seen the likes of Farage disgracefully using this tragedy to fuel further violence. 👇
As someone who served alongside the 75th Ranger Regiment, whose predecessors landed on D-Day, I find it extraordinary that anyone would use those commemorations to sow division. The men who crossed those beaches fought for liberal democracy, not fear of the outsider. To use its commemoration to divide people is to misunderstand the very cause for which they fought.
Pride month should be a time for celebration and joy, but sadly, that isn’t what I’ve heard from LGBT+ constituents and allies over recent days. I intervened in Parliament’s Pride Month debate to ask for assurances that impacts from the EHRC guidance will be reviewed and addressed. 👇
This week we’ve seen positive steps towards prostate cancer screening. Sadly, Reform have chosen divisive race-baiting in response. I asked the Prime Minister to oppose Reform’s nonsense and stand with the men and their families at greatest risk from this terrible disease. 👇
Great to welcome Grove Green and Forest Labour ward groups to Parliament this week! 🌹 Great discussions alongside @stellacreasy and @AlistairCarns, always good to connect with local members and share our work in Westminster. Thank you to everyone who joined us! 🙌
Recently, I had the chance to visit the Peabody housing association office in the constituency and take a tour of the Oliver Road neighbourhood 🚶 Really glad I got to see the work being done on the ground - huge thanks to the team for what you do!
Tan is an outstanding parliamentarian and Defence Committee Chair. We must not let a murderer’s vile actions fuel division or hatred toward innocent people - or let that rhetoric go unchallenged. When one group is targeted, we all have a duty to speak up.

Last week the National Screening Committee published a disappointing recommendation on prostate cancer. We’re expecting the Health Secretary’s response very soon and hopefully some better news. My explainer on where we are and what I want to see change 👇
My team and I helped Anatolijs secure over £6,200 in backdated Pension Credit from DWP. 👇 If you’re a constituent having difficulties with similar issues, my office may be able to help: calvin.bailey.mp@parliament.uk

📮 Thanks to everyone who contacted me about postal delays across the constituency. I visited Leytonstone Delivery Office and raised my concerns directly with Royal Mail. I’ve been assured issues should improve in the coming days, if problems continue, please email: calvin.bailey.mp@parliament.uk
Great news for Londoners! 😎 From 25 July-31 August, the Hopper bus fare will apply every weekend – so no matter how many bus trips you take on Saturday or Sunday, you’ll pay just £1.75 for the day. 🚌👇 https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/london-bus-hopper-fare-weekends-extension-sadiq-khan-b1281816.html
Excellent event with @Labour_african at the Global Partnerships Conference. Powerful contributions on how African diasporas in the UK and around the world are essential partners for modern development cooperation.
In recent weeks we have seen the continued bombardment of Lebanon, accelerating settlement expansion in the West Bank, and the appalling treatment of those on the Global Sumud Flotilla. The UK must continue to work with partners in the Middle East to apply pressure on the government of Israel to end this and help restore peace in the region.
Wishing everyone celebrating in Leyton and Wanstead a joyful and peaceful Eid al-Adha. 🌙✨ May this Eid bring you happiness and time with those you cherish.
As Chair of the APPG for the Armed Forces Community, I’ve submitted the APPG’s response to the Government’s SEND consultation. SEND reform must work for Service children too👇 https://www.calvinbailey.co.uk/post/armed-forces-community-appg-s-submission-to-the-send-consultation-service-children
